On Wednesday December 11th at 2pm Professor Paul Fry from Yale University will deliver a guest lecture on “Constable’s and Wordsworth’s ‘gleam that never was, on sea or land’: Peele Castle, Hadleigh Castle”, in the Justus Lipsius lecture hall on the 8th floor of the Arts Faculty building.
The lecture offers a searching exploration of questions of representation and the frictions of classicism and romanticism in the work of two great figures in the British Romantic canon, the poet William Wordsworth and the painter John Constable.
